I fell in love with the songs of Wake Up Sid on the day I listened to them for the first time.
The musician trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy did a tremendous job with this soundtrack.
If you listen to the songs, you’ll find that almost all of them are very good. Especially Aaj Kal Zindagi … I can listen to it on loop for hours. It’s that good.
But that’s not the song that comes up in discussions about the music of Wake Up Sid, does it?
People only remember one song: iktara.
While the entire album was composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, this particular track was brought to life by Amit Trivedi.
This one song overshadowed all the other tracks. All the other extremely good tracks.
Why? Because while the others were great, this was magical.
That’s what you need to truly stand out in today’s age of creative abundance: create magic.
Next time when you feel that your work isn’t getting the recognition it deserves, remember that good is not good enough.
Great is not great enough.
You need your iktara.
